Christmas Eve
Christmas Book for Rural Schools, 1940

Christmas Eve,
four stockings hanging
In a row along the wall,
How reluctantly we left them,
Yet so sure of Santa’s call.

Oh, to have that trusting spirit –
Perfect faith, a faith that draws
Us to hope, like in the Yule Time,
When we looked for Santa Claus.
